Joshua Van Dyke
Né en 1980 à Vancouver, Colombie-Britannique, Canada
Joshua Van Dyke travaille avec la peinture et la sculpture à partir d'un studio d'une petite île au large de la côte de Vancouver.
Sa pratique explore les notions de collecte et d'affichage, de la matérialité, et le chevauchement des frontières géographiques et culturelles.
Dans sa série populaire, The Hunt, les skateboards utilisés sont façonnés en bois de cervidé et en trophé de la faune.
Son travail retraite toutes les parties du skateboard, transformant leur sens pour exprimer des idées sur le tribalisme, le rituel et l'environnement.
Van Dyke a exposé à Vancouver, Glasgow, et en Finlande. Il a été récipiendaire d'une subvention de la flamme olympique en 2010 pour l'installation d'art public «corridor».
Récemment, il a été l'un des quatre artistes sélectionnés pour participer au projet softshelter avec Molo, un centre de conception industrielle de renommée internationale.
Van Dyke a obtenu un baccalauréat en cinéma de la Glasgow School of Art en 2007. Actuellement, il vit et garde un studio sur l'île Bowen, en Colombie-Britannique.
